Just We
Privacy Policy
Last updated: Oct 10, 2026
Just We is a private app for couples, made by HMGenX in India. This page says in plain words what the app keeps, who can read it, and how you delete it.
The short version
- Only you and the person you write to can read your chats. Messages, photos, videos, voice notes and files are end-to-end encrypted: they are locked on your phone and unlocked only on the other phone. We cannot read them.
- We keep them on our server in that locked form, so they reach your partner when their phone is offline and can come back on a new phone. They stay until they are deleted for everyone or disappear. Deleting your account does not remove them: they are the other person's too.
- A few small things are not encrypted yet. They are listed below, one by one.
- No ads, no advertising trackers, no analytics company. We do not sell your data and do not use it for marketing.
What we keep but cannot read
These are encrypted on your phone before they are sent.
- Messages and reactions in a chat.
- Photos, videos, voice notes and files you send, and the photos, videos and audio you save in Memories.
- A location you send in a chat, and live location.
- Our Map: your places, their notes and their photos.
- Your backup, if you switch it on: your newest backup and the one before it - two files at most - each locked with a recovery code that is made on your phone and never sent to us. Without that code nobody can open them, and we cannot either. The one before is kept so that a bad backup cannot wipe out your last good one. Deleting your backup removes both.
What we keep and can read
Needed to run your account:
- Your account: name, @username, the email address of the Google account you sign in with, profile photo, bio, mood, and gender if you give it.
- Who you are connected with (your lover, your friends), requests, blocks, and when a relationship started and ended.
- For every message: who sent it to whom, when it was sent, read and last changed, what kind it is (text, photo, voice note...), and for a file its name and size. Never what it says or shows.
- Your call list: who called whom, when, and for how long.
- When you were last online. You can hide the time in You > Privacy.
- Whether stealth mode is switched on, so that calls and requests reach you quietly.
- An address Google gives your phone for notifications.
Not encrypted yet:
- Special dates and countdowns (their title and date), birthdays and the day you met.
- Pet names and taglines.
- The title or note you give a memory.
- Your answers to the Daily Question. They are kept for 24 hours.
- What you type in the Compliment game.
- The ready-made lines a game puts into your chat (for example a Ludo line or a dare emoji).
Passed along, not stored:
- Love taps, typing, game moves, and which video Watch Together is playing go through our server so both phones stay in step.
What you send us yourself:
- Bug reports, feedback and ratings.
- A report about a person: the reason, your note, and that person's last messages only if you choose to include them.
What the app sends by itself:
- Error reports. When something breaks, the app sends its version, your phone model, your Android version and technical log lines with message text removed. You can switch this off in You > Privacy.
- Its version, each time it starts.
- A scrambled form of an id of your phone. It is used for one thing: to count your free months.
When you buy Premium:
- The order number, the amount and the date. Your card or UPI details stay with Razorpay. We never see them.
Logs:
- Our server keeps a technical log with account numbers for 14 days. Our web server may record internet (IP) addresses.
- A list of account events - for example a request sent, a relationship started or ended, an account deleted - with account numbers. It has no time limit.
What other people see
- Someone who searches for you sees your name, @username, profile photo, bio and gender.
- You choose who can find you (You > Privacy > Who can find me): anyone, only people who type your exact @username, or nobody.
- The people you are connected with also see your mood, whether you are online and when you were last seen (unless you hide it), when you are typing, when you have read a message, and when you take a screenshot in the app.
- The person you call can record the call on their own phone. The recording stays on their phone.
Other services the app uses
- Google: signing in; delivering notifications (a notification carries the sender's name and the locked message, never readable text); YouTube in Watch Together (the videos you play and what you search for).
- Maps: map pictures come from Esri. Place search and addresses come from OpenStreetMap: when you search for a place or drop a pin, that text or that spot is sent there. When a location is shown in a chat, its small map picture is fetched from OpenStreetMap with that spot.
- Weather, in stealth mode: the weather for your place comes from Open-Meteo.
- Link previews: when a message has a link, your phone opens that website to make the preview, so the website sees your phone's internet address.
- Razorpay: payments.
- Calls go from phone to phone. To connect them the phones use Google's servers and our relay. These see internet addresses, not the call.
None of these services can read your messages.
Deleting
- Delete for everyone removes the message - its text, and its photo or file - from both phones and from our server.
- Delete for me and Clear chat remove messages from your phone only. The locked copies stay on our server.
- A disappearing message is removed from our server when its time is up, and its locked photo or file is removed with it.
- A view-once photo is removed from the chat when it is opened, and its locked file is removed from our server.
- When a file is removed in one of these ways (delete for everyone, a disappearing message, a view-once photo), it stays if something else still uses it - for example the same photo forwarded into another chat. The small locked preview picture of a video is not removed yet.
- When you delete a memory, it is removed from our server together with its locked file. The file stays if something else still uses it - for example the chat message it was saved from.
- After a relationship has ended, deleting one of its memories removes it from your account only. It is removed from our server when the other person deletes it too, or when their account is deleted.
- Deleting your account (You > Account > Delete account) at once removes your email address and your Google link; your bio, mood and gender; your keys, your notification address and your backup; your block list; the memories you saved, with their locked files; the dates and countdowns that were only yours; messages you had scheduled; and your bug reports, with their pictures. Your @username is taken off your account, requests that were still waiting are withdrawn, and every phone is signed out.
- What stays after you delete your account: your name and photo for the people you chatted with (you can untick that when you delete, and then the photo is removed too); the locked messages and files of your chats, your call list, and what the two of you share (for example Our Map and shared dates), because they are the other person's too; payments; and reports you sent or that were sent about you.
- Also kept: your old @username on a list, so that nobody else can take it; the scrambled id of your phone, and a scrambled mark of your Google sign-in with the day your free months began, so that a new account keeps the same free months; our list of account events; error reports, with the link to your account removed; and older files that were left on our server before this clean-up was built, which are not removed yet.
- The mark cannot be turned back into your Google account or your e-mail address.
- Our database backups are kept for 14 days.
We are working on removing the locked leftovers too. This page will say so when it is done.
Your choices
- Switch error reports off.
- Hide when you were last seen.
- Block screenshots of your chats.
- Hide the app behind a code (stealth mode). After your free months, switching it on needs Premium.
- Switch the backup on or off, and delete it.
- Block or report a person.
- Delete your account.
Age
You must be 18 or older to use Just We.
